Economic Development Resolution

Joint Resolution

Joint Resolution of Burnet County, Burnet Consolidated Independent School District, the City of Burnet, Burnet Chamber of Commerce and the Burnet Industrial Foundation for cooperation and participation in efforts for economic development for Burnet, Texas.

WHEREAS, the citizens of Burnet are vitally concerned with the creation and retention of jobs; and

WHEREAS, an Economic Development Team has been created to coordinate efforts of all entities involved; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of these various entities to work together to enhance Burnet for economic development.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commissioners' Court of the County of Burnet that the County will: 1) work with the City of Burnet, and other entities in the county to develop, implement and coordinate plans for capital improvements in support of economic development efforts; and 2) will consider participating in programs for tax abatement on a case-by-case basis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Burnet Consolidated Independent School District that the board: 1) will maintain its outstanding educational programs and explore others that may assist in economic development; and 2) will consider programs such as tax abatement on a case-by-case basis; and 3) the foregoing support is given insofar as the constitution and laws of the State will permit.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Burnet that the City will: 1) work with the Burnet Chamber of Commerce and the Burnet Industrial Foundation to encourage and promote the development and retention of retail and industrial businesses within the community; 2) work with the other entities mentioned herein, and local businesses in development and implementing plans for capital improvements in support of local economic development efforts and will seek public funds when necessary and appropriate; and 3) will consider programs such as tax abatement and utility incentives on a case-by-case basis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Burnet Industrial Foundation that the Board will work with the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Burnet to encourage and promote the development of retail industrial businesses.
