The City of Burnet has the following positions open as of 07/15/08.
LIFEGUARD - GALLOWAY HAMMOND RECREATION CENTER (GHRC) - Part-time
This is a non-supervisory position. Duties include: Life guarding, teaching and helping with swimming lessons, daily clean-up, maintenance and other assigned duties. This position is a part-time. Hours are varied.
RESERVE OFFICERS - BURNET POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Burnet Police Department is looking for new and experienced peace officers that are willing to donate a little of their time in support of the community. Applicants must hold at least a Basic Texas Peace Officer Certification and be in compliance with all TCLEOSE rules and regulation. Experience is preferred but not required. Non-paid (Reserve) officers are expected to work approximately 16 hours a month and to be available to supplement the full-time officers during special events. Uniforms are furnished.

FIREFIGHTER/EMT-PARAMEDIC – PART-TIME
The City of Burnet is now accepting applications for part-time Firefighter/EMT-Paramedics. This position directs Firefighters trained to the EMT-Paramedic level while performing as medical crew. Duties include responding to emergency fire, rescue and medical incidents; provides support functions, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, emergency responses, records and reporting duties, and emergency medical treatment including but not limited to medical emergencies, trauma emergencies and inter facility transports. Plans, organizes, directs and controls fire/rescue and medical service functions within applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
LINEMAN – 2ND CLASS or LINEMAN HELPER 1ST CLASS
The City of Burnet is now accepting applications for a Lineman – 2nd Class. This person must have knowledge of and ability to apply stringent safety rules for electrical system construction and maintenance, and operation; knowledge of electrical system construction and operation; ability or ability to learn to construct and maintain electrical facilities using hole digger truck, pole setter truck, bucket truck, and other electrical equipment; knowledge of motors, house wiring, buried cable, and appliances; ability to communicate accurately orally and in writing. High school graduation or its equivalent and two or more years experience in electrical distribution preferred.
