FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q - Where do I get the form?
A - You can obtain the form in several ways. You can pick one up at City Hall, (click here for address), You can download the form by clicking here, you can call City Hall and request a form be mailed to you or you can request a form by mail.
Q - Who do I give the form back to?
A - Send the form to the City Secretary at City Hall (click here for address)
Q - How soon do I have to have the form turned in?
A - At least five days prior to the scheduled meeting.
Q - Can I speak if I show up with my form in hand?
A - No, you must provide notice so that your appearance can be included on the agenda for that meeting.
Q - What if I change my mind about the topic I want to talk about?
A - The topic listed on your Form must be the topic you discuss. Due to restrictions in the Gov. Code Chapter 551, as amended, Open Meetings Act, deviations from the submitted agenda cannot be heard.
Q - How long will I have to speak?
A - You will have approximately five (5) minutes.
Q - Do I need to supply anything?
A - You do not HAVE to supply anything, however, if you do have documents you wish to present to the Council, you will need to provide twelve (12) copies of them when you turn your form in. If you do not provide them when you turn you form in, the Council will not have time to review them.
Q - What happens if I have to cancel?
A - In the event you must cancel the appearance, please notify the City Secretary by noon on the day of your scheduled appearance at (512) 756-6093 or by email at mail@cityofburnet.com.
Q - Will the Council be able to act upon my request that night?
A - No, the Council cannot discuss, respond or otherwise act on a Citizen's Input item.
Q - What do I do if I want a response or action on my input?
A - You can speak to your City Representative (City Council Member or City Manager) to request an AGENDA ITEM be placed on the agenda for a future meeting.
NOTE: Only a City Council Member or the City Manager can authorize placement of items on the Agenda.
