Citizen Comment

Citizens of the City of Burnet have a right to speak before the City Council at any regular or special meeting of the City Council. Citizens wishing to address an item that has been placed on the agenda can simply come to the meeting at which the item is scheduled and let the facilitator (usually the Mayor) know by signal or voice that they wish to speak on the issue.

If you wish to have the Council address your comments, please contact a member of the Council to request an agenda item.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know when it is time to speak?

Once the Mayor has presented the agenda item for discussion, the Mayor will ask "if anyone would like to speak to this item".  Once recognized by the Mayor, the citizen will be allowed to speak to all present pertaining to that agenda item only.

How long will I have to speak?

Citizen's will receive three minutes to address the City Council.

What do I do if I want a response or action on my input?

You can speak to your City Representative (City Council Member or City Manager) to request an AGENDA ITEM be placed on the agenda for a future meeting.

NOTE:  Only a City Council Member or the City Manager can authorize placement of items on the Agenda.
