Burnet Fire Department offers a number of programs to help teach the community about fire and life safety, and encourages residents and workplaces to make use of these opportunities.

Fire Prevention Week in October
Age-specific Life and Fire Safety Shows are provided for K-5th grade for all BCISD campuses.

“Remembering When” Adult Fire Safety and Fall Prevention Training

A program designed to keep adults over 65 living an independent lifestyle for as long as possible, this program teaches eight (8) fire safety messages and eight (8) fall prevention messages in a fun and infotaining way.  Group or Individual sessions available.

Station Tours

Adults and children will see how the firefighters live through the "Firefighters Are Your Friends" program.

Fire Explorers – Explorer Post 4700

Fire Explorers is a unique experience for high school students (incoming Freshmen through Senior year), interested in the emergency services field after graduation. It is an interactive program that teaches teens life-saving skills and educates them about what it takes to have a career in the fire service.  There are opportunities within the program for skills competition as well as providing public service at local events.  Scholarships for higher education are available on a competitive basis. Fire Extinguisher Training

This course includes classroom and/or hands-on training in the safe use and inspection of fire extinguishers. This class is available to businesses or special groups in Burnet. A minimum of five people is required. The business or group must provide the fire extinguishers or cover the cost of the refill of fire department extinguishers.

Car Seat Inspections

Firefighters certified as Car Seat Inspectors provide information and instruction on the proper installation of car seats. The child must be present at the time of the meeting.  Please call for availability.

Blood Pressure Checks

All fire stations offer free blood pressure checks (based on available staff at time of visit).

Special Request Classes, Programs, and Events

The Fire Department tries to accommodate requests for special fire prevention classes, programs and attendance at educational events (such as health and safety fairs) within the City. Please call for availability.
