Wofford St- July 7th - February 2026
July 1, 2025- A contractor working on behalf of the City of Burnet will begin installing a new 16" waterline main on Wofford Street starting Monday, July 7, 2025. This project will be completed by Atlas Construction and is expected to take approximately 7 months. Please see attachment below for Wofford St Road Closure for map.
- Work will take place Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- One-way traffic control will be in place during construction
- Except for the active construction zone, most of Wofford St will remain open to traffic
- No street parking will be allowed on Wofford—vehicles must be removed the night before and cannot return until the project is completed
For your safety and ours, please do not approach crews while they are working. Be sure to follow all posted traffic signs and obey directions from flaggers. Drive slowly and carefully through the area.

Wood St & Northington St: July 16 - September
Update July 25, 2025
We’re excited to share that the Wood Street project is moving along swiftly. Much of the curb and driveway work has been completed on the previously closed sections of Wood St, and constructor has made significant progress in recent days. On Monday, the section of Wood Street from SH-29 to Brier Street, as well as Northington from Hill Street to the Boys & Girls Club, were closed and fully demolished using a wide range of heavy equipment. You’ll find some photos of the demolition below.
Current Work:
- Minor demolition continues this week in the previously mentioned areas.
- Road base gravel is now being placed. The contractor is working to create a makeshift access to some of the driveways along the demolished sections, for afterhours access if needed
- The section of Wood Street north of Brier is being prepped for paving, which is scheduled in about two weeks.
Looking Ahead:
- Next week, the Monday’s demolished sections will receive their first layer of gravel base and should be nearly ready for curb installation.
- Final gravel base and driveway construction will be completed on the section of Wood Street north of Brier.
- Paving of Wood St is tentatively scheduled for August 6–9, beginning near SH-29. Please note: a small section near the Dollar Store will be demolished and replaced the two days before paving begins.
June 4, 2025- Beginning Thursday, June 12, road construction will begin on Wood Street and Northington Street to improve drainage, add curb and gutter, and provide new pavement. The project is expected to be completed by September 3 and will be carried out in phases. Each affected resident should have received a door hanger notice with specific details about the construction timeline for their area. Please see attachment below for Wood St & Northington St Road Closure for maps.
DETOUR & PARKING NOTICE:
• Street parking will not be allowed on the affected streets during construction.
• Residents will need to park on adjacent side streets during construction phases.
• Detour signs will be posted to help guide residents around the work zones.
• Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

Phase 6: Northington St. (Hill St. to Wallace Riddell Parking Lot)- August 16 – September 3
Phase 7: Wood St. (Kerr St. to Dougherty Creek)- July 14 – August 15 (Open to traffic but under construction)

Houston Clinton Drive Closure: March 27 - May

Change of plans — paving will now take place tomorrow, Saturday.
Flaggers will be on-site to assist with traffic—thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience.
UPDATE 6.4.2025
Great news! The contractor has made solid progress, and we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Weather permitting, final paving is scheduled for this Friday, including:
- Paving the eastbound lane
- Applying a second layer of asphalt to the westbound lane
In the meantime, crews are still hard at work on cleanup, curbs, and sidewalks. Please continue to drive with caution and stay alert for any changes in traffic patterns. We’re almost there—thank you for your patience!
Original Post March 14, 2025- The first portion of Houston Clinton at SH-281 will be closed for demolition. This closure will require traffic to be rerouted through Cary Johnson Parkway. Please see attachment below for Houston Clinton Road Closure for more information.
